New House

And for once in your life you have reached a crossroad and there you have got to choose. You decide to sit down by the river that goes by and you try to think, it is true that you may keep yourself there and let time choose for you or you might have to decide which path is worth to walk on.
Straight ahead is the path to your old house, the one you have lived in all your life, with the kind of peace that only reveals itself when the illusion of perfection and happiness live between the walls one knows so well. Where you know exactly what will happen every morning and where the nights are alike, where everyone else has forgotten what it means to discover something new inside your eyes or mind. You know how much and when you have to pay the bills and you feel comfortable for nothing ever loses its way.
But on that crossroad you found a new path, to a new house, full of life, with a different happiness, different moments, different shadows and different human warmth. You will leave behind some illusions from the old house in the front door, you will have to discover new corners, discover how to be happy with the ones that live there.
Which house would you choose, knowing that the old house has always been there and gives you the sensation of stability and the knowledge that you are not alone?
But if you decide not to choose, to let time choose for you, you must know this, the old house does not change and all the feelings you have towards it won't dissipate easily, although the new house might change, its owner may decide it is not worthy to seat down in the porch waiting and might change the locks or move to a new house found in another crossroad.
What choice would you make, sit down and wait or decide without looking back?
What house would you choose, knowing you would keep some memories and stuff from the oldest house of your life?
What house would you choose?
